The responsibilities of the Secretary of the Rotary Club of Ankeny have increased significantly during the past few years. This prompted the appointment of a committee, by the President Wehr, to review the responsibilities of the secretary position for our club. Their recommendation to the Board was to amend the Club’s By-Laws to change the club’s secretarial position to a committee of a paid secretary and up to three assistants. This will help to divide the work of the secretary, provide backup, and ultimately assist with the transition to a new secretary. The Board agreed with this recommendation. Any amendment to the By-Laws requires a vote of the entire membership.
The vote took place at both the noon and evening club meetings on May 18th with a quorum of members present and the amendment was approved by unanimous vote. The Board will decide the amount of compensation to be paid to the secretary at the June Board meeting.
