Juan Arias was named the "New Ankeny Rotarian of the Year" during the "Annual Meeting and Awards Night" on June 30th.   Although Juan is no stranger to Rotary, having been a Rotarian in Honduras since 1994, he has made a significant impact on the Rotary Club of Ankeny since he transferred his membership in 2018.  Since then he maintained perfect attendance, completed session 3 of the Rotary Leadership Institute and graduated from this program, attended RLI facilitator training, volunteered to serve on the District RLI committee, assisted with set up and tear down of meeting equipment and paraphernalia, participated in nearly all evening club service projects, including the clean up and replanting of the Band Shell flower beds, and coordinated and conducted weekly virtual meetings.  In addition, Juan was elected by Evening Club members to serve as President for 2020-2021 year and in that capacity attended PETS in Rochester earlier this year.

In addition to a plaque, the club made a donation to the Rotary Foundation in Juan's name to elevate him to the Paul Harris Fellow+4 recognition level.  Congratulations Juan!!
