Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, collects shoebox gifts - filled with school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys and delivers them to children in need around the world. For many children this will be the only gift they receive this Christmas. Since 2009, more than 16 million shoeboxes have been filled and delivered through this program. Members of the Evening Rotary Club of Ankeny and several guests filled 66 shoeboxes during their meeting on October 29th. In addition to selecting items to put in the boxes, pictures were taken of the person filling each box to be included in the box with a card on which a short note was written.
