Rotary District 6000 Governor, Erna Morain, has confirmed the District's RI Disaster Grant application in the amount of $25,000 for Food and Nutrition items has been approved by the Rotary Foundation.  The funds will be funneled through the Food Bank of Iowa and its sister organizations, HACAP and River Bend Food Bank to insure that all communities in the district where our clubs are located will receive an equitable portion of the food purchased by the grant.

In addition, District 6000 clubs and embers contributed over $39,000 in cash to the District Humanitarian and Educational Foundation after DG Morain put out the plea a few weeks ago.   Another $32,000 came from the District's unused DDF funds from the 2019-2020 year and clubs, contributed about $50,000 to their local food pantries and spent a great number of hours handling and distributing the supplies in their own communities.  In total, with the grant, nearly $150,000 was provided to the food banks.  Since the food bank network can generate four meals for every dollar donated, District 6000 Rotarians will be providing over 500,000 meals for Iowans in need in Iowa due to the pandemic.

Thanks to all Rotarians that contributed to make this possible.   District 6000 really does believe in "Service Above Self".
