Last year, the Rotary Club of Ankeny participated in a Rotary Global grant totaling over $200,000 to construct Enviro Loo toilets in South Africa through Blessman International.   Our club donated towards this project and also acted as the US host which included receiving $100,000 from Allen Anderson and forwarding it on to Rotary International for this grant.

Blessman International is now working on another Rotary grant to construct and install an additional 45 Enviro Loo waterless toilet systems at a cost of $5,500 each.  Each toilet will serve 20 children.  Their goal is to raise $250,000.  Mr. Anderson has already committed another $50,000 towards this project and another individual in Iowa has committed $45,000.   Several other rotary clubs in the US and in SA will also be participating.

At their October Board meeting, our club committed to donate $2,000 towards this project   The Board also agreed to match additional contributions from members up to an additional $1,000.  As of November 1st, members have committed to donate $2,150 towards this project.  With the club's match, the total to be contributed from the Rotary Club of Ankeny and its members will be at least $5,150.  All of these contributions will then receive an additional match from Rotary International.

If you would like to contribute towards this project, send Nate Burnham an email, at nfburnham@gmail.com, to let him know how much you would like to contribute.  Your contribution will be submitted to Rotary International in your name upon final approval of the grant and the amount of your contribution will be included in your next quarterly invoice.  You will receive Paul Harris recognition for your contribution.
