During the Board meeting on May 12, 2011, Doug Beech requested ideas for a major for the Rotary Club of Ankeny to participate in. The idea of the Ankeny Market Pavilion was presented to the club in October, 2011 and initial plans were drawn up in early 2012. Finally after 6 years of planning, fundraising and construction, the dedication and ribbon cutting for this $2.4 million project was held on June 14, 2018. Terry thanked his committee, Doug Beech, Damon Miller, Dave Mercer, Mark Martin, and Todd Wehr for their dedication and hard word for the past seven years. Terry also announced the club had donated 1,000 Paul Harris recognition points to each of the committee members in appreciation of the work on this project. This results in Damon Miller becoming a Paul Harris Fellow plus one and Doug Beech, Dave Mercer, Mark Martin, Terry Peter, and Todd Wehr becoming a Paul Harris Fellow plus two.
