Rotary clubs around the world are always supportive of projects that truly create an impact on the lives of the people that they serve. One such project comes from the Rotary Club of Ortigas Center in the Philippines.  They initiated a sight-saving project for children with special needs. At least 350 children were diagnosed for visual impairment, and free eyeglasses were given.  In cooperation with the Asian Eye Institute these children were also pre-screened for cataracts.  With improved vision, they will be able to develop their own capabilities to their fullest potential.  In India smart canes for the visually impaired were donated.  These special canes contain an attachment, which is embedded with ultrasonic sensors. They have a range of ten feet and make the user aware of obstacles from the knee up to the head.  The club in India donated 200 such canes to the needy.

Your contribution to The Rotary Foundation enables the visually handicapped around the world to live a better and more productive life.  Thank you for giving.
