During the 7th annual fundraiser on the evening of Saturday, February 25, the Rotary Club of Ankeny had three “paddle raisers” with the funds designated to a specific cause.  One of these causes was a police officer’s memorial wall which is being sponsored by the Ankeny Leadership Class of 2017.  The class chose as their class project to honor the Ankeny Police Department through a tribute wall honoring retired and fallen officers.  The tribute wall will feature Ankeny Police Officers that have retired from the Ankeny PD after a certain number of years of service and those that were killed in the line of duty.  The wall will be in the atrium of the Ankeny Police Station.  The header on the wall will feature the quotation: These proud individuals helped form the foundation of our community, and gave all to courageously serve this city.   For that, we honor their legacy.”

Rotary president-elect Sally Schroeder presented a check in the amount of $1,940 to members of the Leadership Class representing the proceeds of this paddle raiser.   Pictured from the class are:  Aaron Rickelman, Abbi Rickelman, Seth Sparks, Abby Bogaards, Melissa Johnson, and Frank Alampi.
