Damon went into the hospital on July 12th with severe stomach pain due to pancreatitis.   Treatment with antibiotics did not prove to be effective and he finally had surgery on August 2nd to remove a portion of his pancreas and spleen and stop some internal bleeding.    He has been showing improvement but most recent posting shows he still has a long way to go for full recovery.  Here are the posting Amy has put on CaringBridge.org the past two days:

Another good night! Temp is staying down, vitals look great & he's talking a lot more. He said this morning how happy he is to have a voice again. He doesn't seem to have much memory of what has happened prior to Friday but did say that he feels like he's been here at hospital a month. His breathing is about the same as yesterday, still labored but he seems to be more relaxed today. My favorite part about going in to see him yesterday and today is that the fear is gone from his eyes. He's content and ready to do whatever it takes to get home. So proud of this man! The doctors are amazed at his muscle strength as well. They said it normally takes 5 days to recover for every 1 day of bed rest. He was on bed rest for 13 days so his accomplishments of standing and taking a few steps is quite remarkable.
Hug your families tight today! Love you all.

Damon is quite exhausted today. He says he didn't sleep much last night & he spiked a temp of 102.6 late last evening. The doctors took some blood & urine cultures to see if any new infections are present but we won't know the results of those until tomorrow. He will also get another CT scan tomorrow to check out the status of the pancreas & belly. His temp is down to 99 now and he's resting comfortably. Praying that the reason for the temp spike is an easy fix.

On another note, if you have some extra time, please send up a few more prayers for the boys, especially Brekken. His 6 year old mind & heart are having a hard time understanding why his big, strong Daddy has to be at the hospital this long. We are thankful for all of (you) guardian angels watching out for all of them through this difficult time.
