At the noon Rotary meeting on May 10th, Terry Peter gave a brief overview of the progress of the Ankeny Market Pavilion project.  Rotary has been the primary catalyst in moving this project forward through fundraising, design and construction.  One building is up and the pillar wraps are being added this week.  We had to replace some of the cement and this will also be done soon.  The north entry signs will be in place by the first Farmers Market on May 21st.  We have delayed the ribbon cutting as we want to make sure these items are in place first.

One goal of our club is for all members to be on board by having 100% of our members donate to this project.  Currently, 46 members and former members have contributed.  The Rotary Club of Ankeny has also donated funds and a portion of the proceeds from our annual auction has gone towards this project.  Based on our records, as a group, we have contributed roughly $85,000.  We would really like to get to the “Investor”, $100,000, recognition level.

Each member has been sent an email advising them of how much they have donated to the AMP project according to our records.  Let Terry Peter know if you believe this number to not be correct as we want to make sure everyone is given the proper credit for their support.  For those that have not as yet contributed, an anonymous donor has agreed to match the first $50 of the contribution, for up to 20 members.  If you would like to consider making a donation or an additional contribution, now is an excellent opportunity to do so.  The Rotary Board has also agreed to match all contributions up to a total contribution by the Club of $15,000.

The AMP Steering committee would like to complete this project by the end of the Rotary year so we ask that all contributions be completed by June 15th.   Checks should be made payable to The Ankeny Foundation and given to Terry Peter or Damon Miller.
