A Great Year for The Rotary Club of Ankeny
During the 2016 annual meeting, President Damon Miller, highlighted a few of the accomplishments of the club during his year as president. These included:
- Our 6th annual fundraiser, “Biker Night”, grossed $49,365 and net income of $35,270 was 54% more than last year.
- Implemented a Corporate Membership Program.
- Added 14 new members and only had two resignations for the year, increasing current membership to an all-time high of 84.
- Distributed dictionaries to 4th graders for the 10th consecutive year - 975 dictionaries this year. Also gave out calculators.
- Raised $1,057 for Special Olympics by selling root beer floats. This was the most ever!
- Purchased and helped distribute 258 coats to Ankeny students.
- Purchased 3 computers and sent them to Jorge Mexico Primary School.
- Was one of 19 clubs in District 6000 to receive District Governor's Citation.
- Qualified for Rotary Presidential Citation for 2015-2016 year.
- Was one of 22 clubs in District 6000 to receive Polio Plus - "End Polio Now: Make History Today Campaign".
- Implemented program to give 200 recognition points to all members that agree to be “Paul Harris Sustaining Members” and donate at least $100 per year.
- Qualified to be a 100% club for 2015-2016 with all Active members donating to the Foundation.
- Sponsored Rotary Exchange Student this school year.
- Will be sending 13 students to RYLA next month.
- The club donated $5,000 to Polio Plus and members donated $12,915 to the Foundation for a total of $17,915 to The Rotary Foundation.
- Total donations for the year to the Foundation and to other organizations was $59,880.
